Hitman is a continuation of the legendary series of stealth action games developed by the Io-Interactive studio. The name of the game looks exactly like this, without numbers and subtitles.

You are an operational International agent under contract No. 47. Your job is to eliminate targets around the world, with the support of your longtime handler Diana Burnwood. The game is built on the sandbox principle, and each NPC has his own name and his own case number.

This time Hitman will be just the beginning of a huge journey: the creators of the game have something like a “global plot” in their plans - constantly adding new missions, while the further development of events depends on the actions of the players. However, the familiar contracts will not go away; players will continue to create “orders” for each other.

As for the rest, we have before us the good old Hitman with significantly improved graphics. As provided at the press conference Hitman gameplay video published by Square Enix, Agent 47 was tasked with killing his target during a fashion show. Traditionally, you can complete the task in various ways: transform into a bartender and poison the victim, sneak into a building under the guise of a repairman and hack the target to death with an ax, or use a sniper rifle. At the same time, the game will have a “quality of passage” parameter, on which the rewards issued at the end of the mission depend.

This series of materials is devoted to testing modern popular games on budget-level platforms with integrated and discrete graphics in the lower price range. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate to readers the readiness or unreadiness of configurations that are popular due to their affordability for use as gaming platforms by undemanding players. We especially emphasize that The cycle is aimed at buyers of ready-made solutions in the form of office and cheap home PCs and offers little useful information for those who want to update their PC (upgrade). Today we took the game Hitman (2016) as the subject of our research. The comparison involves two configurations: based on AMD A10 APU (with integrated Radeon R7 graphics) and four options based on Intel Core i3-4160 CPU: with integrated graphics, with discrete graphics Nvidia GeForce GT 730, with discrete graphics Nvidia GeForce GT 740 2 GB GDDR3 and with discrete graphics Nvidia GeForce GT 740 1 GB GDDR5. In terms of cost, both platforms are in the same price niche, but the more expensive the card is installed in a system with an Intel processor, the greater the price difference between them.

The costs of the compared platforms excluding Nvidia discrete graphics are almost equal; adding the GT 730/740 increases the cost of the Intel platform, but both platforms still fall into the price range of 26,000 - 32,000. Obviously, the configurations we have chosen do not meet even the minimum requirements stated by the game developers, so in this case we should expect low performance, insufficient for good playability.

Game settings and testing methodology

It should be immediately noted that it was not possible to run the test on the graphics integrated into the Intel Core i3: the game produced artifacts.

Game settings

We tested in three resolutions: 1920x1080, 1440x900 and 1280x800 at medium quality settings.

AMD A10-7860KIntel i3-4160 + GT 730Intel i3-4160+GT 740 GDDR3Intel i3-4160+GT 740 GDDR5

And at minimum quality settings at 1280×800 resolution:

The game picture looked something like this:

AMD A10-7860KIntel i3-4160 + GT 730Intel i3-4160+GT 740 GDDR3Intel i3-4160+GT 740 GDDR5

The difference between pictures at standard and minimum quality settings is visually noticeable. At minimum settings the quality drops noticeably.

Testing methodology

Our goal is to demonstrate what a player feels in real gameplay, so for benchmarking we simply play the game, including FPS counters (using FRAPS software) to give a rough idea of performance.

Test results

Unfortunately, it was not possible to record videos demonstrating performance on a particular platform (in different modes) using software due to the complete blocking of the keyboard (except for the keys allocated for gameplay) on the game side - as a result, it is not possible to start and stop recording gameplay . We recorded the gameplay using a video camera, so all videos are presented in Full HD resolution (in video camera mode):

System requirements Linux and Steam OS

The Linux operating system and Steam Machine running Steam OS must meet the specifications below. This guarantees a successful launch of HITMAN and its stability.

Hitman company Square Enix has published the system requirements for the PC version of the game. Information about the required computer configuration appeared on the stealth action game's page on the Steam store.

To run the game, users will only need a PC equipped with an Intel Core i5-2500K processor with a clock frequency of 3.3 GHz or an AMD Phenom II X4 940, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870 video card and 8 GB of RAM. It should be noted that the recently released Rise of the Tomb Raider on this platform has more modest requirements in the case of all three components. A less powerful PC is also required for Fallout 4.

Those who plan to play at high graphics settings will need a computer equipped with an Intel Core i7-3770 processor clocked at 3.4 GHz or an AMD FX-8350 clocked at 4 GHz and a graphics accelerator no worse than NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 290. According to the recommended requirements, Hitman matches last year's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Assassin's Creed Syndicate, although an AMD Radeon R9 280X is recommended for the latter.

The beta version of the game on PlayStation 4 and PC is about 4.7 GB. It is worth keeping in mind that the published requirements refer to “beta” and may change before the official premiere.

Minimum system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit;
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K clocked at 3.3 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 940;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870;
  • DirectX version: 11.

Hitman closed beta testing will take place from February 12 to 15 on PlayStation 4 and from February 19 to 22 on PC. On both platforms, the challenge will start and end at the same time of day - 10:00 GMT (13:00 Moscow time). Access to the challenge will only be available to users who pre-order one of the bundles on offer - the Intro Pack for $14.99 or The Full Experience for $59.99. As an additional early purchase bonus, players will receive the Requiem Blood Money Pack DLC, which includes the costume from the final mission of Hitman: Blood Money, explosives and an ICA-19 pistol.

Hitman will be distributed according to the serial model. On March 11, the first part of the content will go on sale - the prologue and missions in Paris, included in the Intro Pack. Then, mission packs will appear every month in the remaining countries (Italy, Morocco, Thailand, USA and Japan). Each of these chapters can be purchased individually by Starter Set owners for $9.99, while a subscription that includes all planned content will cost $49.99.

In the Russian section of Steam, the starter set is offered for 330 rubles, the full game for 1,299 rubles. On the PlayStation Store, the price of the Intro Pack is 899 rubles, and The Full Experience is 3,199 rubles. Prices in the Russian segment of the Xbox Store have not yet been indicated.
